Robert Simonds’ STX Entertainment’s subsidiary, STXFilms, has announced that they’ve appointed the famous screenwriter duo Jon and Erich Hoeber to write the studio’s family action-comedy film. Dave Bautista, who has previously starred in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Blade Runner 2049, will be featuring in this movie.
The film will follow a resistant CIA operative (played by Dave Bautista) who finds himself at the mercy of a bright 9-year-old girl, having been sent secretly to observe her family. The film is produced by Bautista, and Jonathan Meisner alongside the STXFilms’ Senior Vice President of production Drew Simon and director of development Kate Vorhoff.

Apart from this, STX is developing several projects with Bautista which also includes the recently announced short-form action-comedy VR series from the company’s another subsidiary, STXsurreal. Jon and Erich Hoeber have written several movies including Red franchise and Battleship, as well as the upcoming science fiction adventure The Meg, starring Jason Statham and Ruby Rose.
The Hoeber brothers were already working with STXfilms having helped out on The Happytime Murders, which is set in an L.A. underbelly where puppets and humans coexist. Chairman and CEO of STX Entertainment, Bob Simonds told us that he is very excited that this famous screenwriter duo is working again for his firm.
Represented by Verve and Peikoff Mahan, the screenwriters are famous for adapting Warren Ellis’ graphic novel RED into a hit action movie for Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, and Morgan Freeman, as well as its sequel RED 2, both released by Summit.
